"Bringing people together through group art  projects is my favorite way to witness community and unity in action. I am inspired when people unite through a common artistic pursuit for the purpose of beauty, self expression, compassion and healing".

The Butterfly Project

This 3 three year project brought together dozens of teen girls from Skagit Valley ,WA and Syrian refugees from Azraq Jordan together through poetry, cermaics and letter exploring the challenges and hopes of young woman.  The project culminated in a school mural depicting a young Syrian woman surrounded by the ceramic butterflies.

Día del Niño Project

Skagit libraries supported this art project  honoring the Mexican children of Skagit Valley.  Inspired by the local "Solecitos" folklóric dancers, this 5' painting hangs in the Skagit libraries. Handpainted tile border created by community member, and framing built by local craftsman, Cal Buck.

Edison  School Labyrinth and Mosaic

Honoring the final wish of beloved teacher, Jill Bailey, for a labyrinth of peace at Edison Elementary to help children find a peaceful way to calm themselves,  the Edison Community built a labyrinth on school property. I was asked to create the center mosaic, symbolizing the equanimity of a blue heron, and using words of peace.  This has  become a place where people can find peace, safety and calm during the day.
